Description
The Willow Rectangular and Round Ashes Casket is handwoven using traditional basket-making techniques used for over 2000 years. Each casket is finished with a well-fitted lid, toggle and loop closures and a natural drawstring cotton ashes bag.

Material
Willow is grown as rows of bushes in low-lying and often flooded areas. Willow is harvested in late autumn when the leaves begin to drop. Once harvested, willow will regenerate back to its same height within a year. Willow enjoys rapid growth, is highly renewable, and is the number one reason it’s used as a crop for biomass energy. Once planted, a willow crown will last up to 60 years before needing to be renewed. During this time, only the most basic of maintenance is required.

Origin
Traditional basket makers handcraft our Willow coffins in the Shandong province of China. The production of each coffin requires minimal processing and is still made by hand using methods unchanged for generations.
