Natural Woven Products Limted is a sister company of the Somerset Willow company, which  was started up after the increasing demand for cheaper environmentally friendly coffins and funeral products.

The Somerset willow company which employ 15 basket makers and 5 key staff have been manufacturing and selling all types of basketware since 1959. The company branched out in to the manfacture and selling of  English Willow Coffins in 1999 offering a variety of shapes, colours and sizes for the funeral industry and general public to present day.

English willow coffins in our opinion are the 'Rolls Royce' of environmentally friendly coffins and we have always been committed to quality, design and construction and felt that there was a gap in the market for cheaper good quality environmentally friendly coffins.

We at Natural Woven Products are proud to say that our Cane and Seagrass coffins have been designed and developed by Somerset Willow Company, using their expertise and knowledge on basket construction. This has enabled us to work closely with an overseas company to produce these coffins to the quality that you have come to expect from Somerset Willow Company.

We are very proud of our Cane coffins as we feel that Cane is very environmentally friendly due to the fact that it is very fast growing, as much a six metres a year. Cane grows in degraded forests and in marginal soil, in areas where other land products cannot grow, for example areas that remain flooded for long periods of time.  In addition Cane clings to  exisiting tropical rainforest trees and so actively encouraging the preservation of trees in the rainforest.  It can be introduced artificially in natural forests without disturbing the existing natural eco system.  It provides income to some of the poorest people living in and on the fringes of the rainforests.

Our Seagrass material is renowned for its quality and durability, which makes it an ideal material for woven products. As their name implies Seagrass is indeed a grass and sea water does play a part in production. Our Seagrass is grown in a paddy fields and at a certain point during the growing season, the fields are flooded with sea water. It is highly renewable and comes from environments where sustainability practices are employed. once harvested Seagrass is dried and then spun into a strong yarn ready for weaving.
